What is Hyperhidrosis?

Hyperhidrosis causes excessive sweating; the excessive sweating has no connection to being too hot or taking part in exercise. Hyperhidrosis can also cause a disturbance to your daily routine, or even leave you feeling embarrassed and anxious. The disorder can also cause an impact on simple tasks – shaking a hand, for example, might be avoided, changing clothes could become more frequent, and excessive sweating could also affect playing sports such as tennis.

How to know if you have Hyperhidrosis?

The most common sign is sweating excessively from your hands and face, or sweat soaking through clothing. The most commonly affected areas are the hands, feet, underarms and face. If you’re uncertain on whether you have Hyperhidrosis, or you’ve just noticed that you sweat more then you should, we recommend booking a consultation with Aesthetic Medispa in Rickmansworth.

Does Hyperhidrosis go away?

There is no known cure for Hyperhidrosis. However, treatments using Botox injections will help reduce and control the levels of excessive sweat that someone experiences. For a lucky few, it might lessen with age or stop altogether – however, this is very rare. Often, Hyperhidrosis will continue or the excessive sweating will get worse with age.

How can Aesthetic Medispa help?

At our clinic in Rickmansworth, we offer a treatment that involves administering anti wrinkle injections that contain Botox in to the skin. The treatment that we provide for Hyperhidrosis is extremely safe and is only performed by fully qualified doctors so you know you’re in safe hands. The treatment isn’t a permanent fix; however, it can last anywhere between 6-9 months.

What does the treatment do?

The anti wrinkle injections are used to inject the Botox into the skin. The Botox then blocks the eccrine glands and prevents the production of excess sweat. The Botox injections are carefully spread out around the body or target the most affected area. This means that the production of sweat doesn’t fully stop, but is reduced. This is because sweat is still needed to keep the skin hydrated.

What can I try?

Wearing clothes that are loose will allow your skin to breathe and stay cooler. If you aren’t wearing antiperspirant, then give it a go. Antiperspirant will help reduce the excessive sweating for your armpits. Another alternative can be to change up your diet. You could be drinking too much water, or you may want to reduce your caffeine intake. If you’re still experiencing excess sweat, then come to Aesthetic Medispa in Rickmansworth and we can help you out with treatment to help you get back to normal.
