How can I treat my thread veins in Essex?

Warmer weather will (hopefully) be on the horizon soon, but if you are one of the 60% of adults affected by thread veins, you may not be looking forward to a little more sun. If rather than daydreaming about your summer holidays and relaxing in the garden you’re worried about clothes that expose your legs or discomfort, then we have your answer.

Sclerotherapy with Aesthetics Medispa can help you feel confident and comfortable in your skin again. We’ve often found with sclerotherapy clients that they want to treat the visible signs of their thread veins, but they don’t know what to expect from the treatment, what that treatment even is, or details like recovery time. We’re here to divulge all…

What is sclerotherapy?

Sclerotherapy is the treatment of thread veins using a series of precise micro-injections. These injections cause the vein to swell and stick together, stopping the blood from flowing through them and closing them off. These are then gradually absorbed through the body’s natural processes.

What is the treatment like?

We will inject a sclerosing agent at strategic points in your treatment area. Your thread vein treatment will only take around 20 minutes, and the tiny micro needles we use allow for minimal discomfort. This being said, you will feel a slight stinging sensation during the treatment, but this will quickly subside. We would recommend 3 treatment sessions for thread veins on the legs at intervals of around 2-3 weeks.

What can I expect after treatment?

Your treated area will be red and slight bruising is common at the injection sites, however, this should settle down within 7-10 days. Sometimes, the vessels may be tender to touch for a day or two after treatment, but again this should subside fairly quickly.

What results can I expect from my thread vein removal treatment?

After treatment, your body will work to absorb the treated veins which may take up to 3 months. This is why we recommend booking your treatment in advance so that you can be ready for warmer weather or any special occasions. However, most patients can expect a 70-90% permanent improvement in the treated vessels! Once treated, your results are permanent, but we can’t prevent the development of new veins in the future.
